WA Web Plus has shipped two updates in May 2026 — v1.3.0 and v1.3.1 — and together they bring the biggest set of changes since we launched. Every privacy feature has been retuned for the current WhatsApp Web release, and we've added new stealth-mode tools, productivity helpers, and quality-of-life improvements. Here's a quick tour of what's new.
Blur Refreshed for the Latest WhatsApp Web
We rebuilt all of our blur selectors against the current WhatsApp Web release. Blur Messages, Blur Sidebar, Blur Media, Blur Names, and Blur Avatars all work cleanly — including the recent-message previews in your chat list and the profile pictures on the sidebar. If you noticed any blur features falling out of sync recently, the May update brings them fully back online.
New: Stealth-Mode Privacy Features
WhatsApp's native privacy settings give you a few toggles — read receipts, last seen, online status — but they're all-or-nothing and buried in a settings menu. v1.3.0 introduces a set of fine-grained stealth features you can flip on and off from the extension popup:
- 1
Hide Read Receipts — read messages without sending the blue double-checks.
- 2
Hide Typing Status — type a reply without showing a "typing…" indicator on the other side.
- 3
Hide Recording Status — record a voice note without showing "recording audio…" to the recipient.
- 4
View Status Privately — watch a contact's status update without sending a "seen" notification.
- 5
Invisible Mode — appear offline to everyone while still using WhatsApp Web normally.
Each one is a single toggle in the Privacy tab. Turn them on when you want them, off when you don't — no need to dig into WhatsApp's settings or change anything globally on your phone.
New: One-Click Theme Switching
There's a new theme button in the extension header — tap it once and WhatsApp Web switches between light and dark mode without having to navigate the Settings → Chats → Theme menu yourself. A small loading overlay shows the switch in progress so you know it's working, and the change persists across reloads.
New: Quick Lock Shortcut
Lock Screen now has a dedicated keyboard shortcut: Cmd + Shift + L on Mac, Ctrl + Shift + L on Windows and Linux. Press it from anywhere in WhatsApp Web and the lock overlay activates instantly — no need to open the popup first. Paired with the existing Alt+X for Quick Blur, you can protect your screen completely without ever touching the mouse.
New: Auto-Lock on Idle
If you forget to lock your screen when you step away, Auto-Lock will do it for you. Pick a timeout — 1, 5, 15, or 30 minutes — and WhatsApp Web locks itself when there's no activity. When you come back, you'll need your PIN to unlock. This pairs nicely with Blur on Idle, which has been around for a while: blur for short coffee breaks, full lock for longer absences.
New: Productivity Tools
- 1
Mark All as Read — clear every unread badge with one click. Useful after coming back from vacation or any long stretch away from WhatsApp Web.
- 2
Click-to-Chat Generator — paste a phone number, pick a country code, and get both a wa.me link and a downloadable QR code. The QR code generates locally in your browser — no online generators or third-party services involved.
- 3
Export Group Members — open any group, click the Export action, and get a CSV with each member's name, phone number, and role (admin/member).
- 4
Export Contacts — export your saved contacts or all chat partners to CSV. Pick the scope at export time.
Indonesian Joins the Language Roster
WA Web Plus is now available in eight languages: English, Chinese, Portuguese (BR), Spanish, French, Arabic, German, and the newly added Indonesian. The popup, lock screen, and all tool dialogs are fully translated.
Smaller Quality-of-Life Fixes
- 1
Chat wallpaper now correctly replaces WhatsApp Web's native wallpaper layer (instead of tinting it through a translucent overlay).
- 2
The per-message translate button now blends with WhatsApp's dark theme instead of showing a bright white badge.
- 3
The Quick Chat button reappears for users on the new WhatsApp Web layout.
- 4
Status Highlights — the indicator showing unread status updates — works again across all UI variants.
- 5
Lock Screen overlay redesigned with a glassmorphism look, green badge, SVG icons, and a shake animation on incorrect passwords.
Actively Maintained, Privacy-First
WA Web Plus runs entirely in your browser. There's no account, no cloud sync, no message data leaving your device. Every privacy feature in this update operates locally — we don't see your messages, your contacts, or your conversation history. The only network traffic the extension generates is the translation feature (which calls Google Translate only when you click translate) and anonymized usage statistics that help us prioritize what to build next.
We update WA Web Plus continuously as WhatsApp Web evolves, with bug fixes and new features rolling out every few weeks. If something stops working or you have a feature request, email team.waplus@gmail.com — we read everything.
